BAGS at MOTMOT SHOP!

GIANT UPDATE ...snicker

Sooo, here are the finished bags! Ready and gorgeous - I'm really happy with how they turned out, IRMSA did a fantastic job again. It's quite thrilling to see a drawing going directly into the product, I hope whoever will buy them gets a kick out of them as well! You can see some of the sewn on details IRMSA applied to the bags in the close up shots.

Below are the drawings for the bags Irmsa makes - Each bag holds two pieces of artwork sewn in so you can carry them around with you wherever you want to. We have three different sizes, here are the two medium sized bags + one large bag. There are more of course, BUT you'll have to drop by at the MOTMOT SHOP next week to see them!

MIXED BAG - LARGE 1

Here are the four drawings of the midi Bags in overlay. You won't be able to see it like that on the bag, because of the underlaying cloth, but the two sides working together was the concept behind the drawings.
It's fun! I'm working on some more pieces with that effect...

JUST SOME MORE.... at FREIGEIST

These two were drawn in the aftermath of the FREIGEIST session, I started them as promotional pieces for another show, but they ran off and the FREIGEIST feeling took over. TOTALLY.
As with the others, they are drawn on Fabriano paper, with ink in direct layouts on the paper and of course without sketching.

MOTMOT SHOP WINDOW!

DRAWING NEEDS ANNOUNCEMÈNT!

From Saturday the 31. of October we will be shining from one of the shop windows at the formidable MOTMOT SHOP in Vienna - KIRCHENGASSE 36 (please CLICK-CLICK!), there we present some of our known things like CARDS, BUTTONS and BAGS - each and everyone fitted with an original drawing. Yes you heard right friends, whatever you choose to get from us is a item with a handdrawn design that only you will have. That's much in occurance with the cool things our friendly friends Anna and Steve from the MOTMOT Shop are making, but we'll get to that later. We made a special collection of our things for them, so all in the window is only to be seen and to get at the MOTMOT's.

In addition to that there will also be a drawn tapestry set on the walls of the window. It's gonna be quite big - and it was just as big fun as that to draw it for sure.

Both the MOTMOT's and us have a thing with producing our wares on the spot - It's one of the nicest and funnest things at the MOTMOT SHOP to go in, choose your design and your fave garment and get it printed right away. And that's screenprinting I'm talking about, not the usual iron-on kind of thing - WOW! That's one reason why I fell in love with the store immediatly. Sooo, we will merge our stupendous qualities on the 6th of November at the 6th district BLOCK PARTY, where I will be drawing at the shop and the MOTMOT's will have some extra specials ready for you. I'll draw some of our CARDS, as well as large size BUTTONS made after your wishes and buttonized right away for you to take home.

As you can imagine we're PRETTY excited about that! Below you can see some of the drawings I was working on for the window, I will update you on those as the 31. draws closer. We hope you enjoy all that and have the chance to stop by!

ONE

It doesn't always take a bunch of them. Sometimes, one is more than enough.

ORCHID STUDIES

We love old botanical prints and the whole aesthetic feeling of botanical visuals in the 19th century. These were done in the vein of studying that period of reproduction and drawing. Quite simple and clean and of course not as elaborative as the work that goes into the classic look of drawings that become etchings for bookprinting.

I formerly drew them to cut them out and arrange them separatly, but how they ended up on the paper kind of worked, so I let them be like that.

The family of Orchids has some of the most weird and beautiful plants around, they have become pretty much household names when it comes to bringing a delicate but endurable flower to your home. In the jungle they can grow to massive conglomerates of plants. The botanical garden in New York has one of the largest Orchids in the world we are told. This thing only blooms once a year, in many small sets of flowers hanging down from it's massive strings. We caught it as it was just loosing the petals when we went there last time.

What's the word? LETTERPLAYGROUND!

We have joined the very fun LETTERPLAYGROUND site, it is based on the fabulous Mr. Nate Williams' love for handlettering. Nate is a force of handlettering in present Illustration. I'm sure you have seen his wonderful work in action, but just in case, ...you can find him HERE.

Letterplayground strikes me as a place where you can go crazy with letters like you always wanted to! On there -----> WE ARE HERE! It gives for some good kicks to just goof (in a positive way...) around with your ideas without the pressure of a certain sense behind the work itself but yet to have a challenging way of getting to a result. So we felt obliged to present the latest in potato lettering fashion!

Important PS: All potatoes where eaten of course!
